Started as an edge-case, now I'm here! Growing up in Harlem, I felt like an outsider in the tech industry. I saw a gap between the needs of my community and the priorities of tech companies. However, my passion for language, technology, and prioritizing systemically marginalized people only grew stronger.
And now, I'm proud to say that I'm in a position to foster and scale real change in tech. I've found my safe space in a community of practitioners who share my values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In December, I had the honor of helping plan Meta's first Product Equity Summit. The summit brought together brilliant minds from various industries from companies like GoogleAdobeLinkedInPinterestSnap Inc. and more to tackle systemic inequalities and promote equity in product development. The discussions were insightful, the workshops were engaging, and the speakers were powerful. And while they were all amazing, I have a slight affinity for the panel I moderated on inclusive language with Natasha Weinstein, Daniela Bayon, Cindy Joung and Sydney Coleman 😉. I left feeling more inspired than ever to continue pushing for a more equitable future.
When we come together with a common goal, we can truly make a difference. Let's keep pushing for equity and inclusion in our work, no matter what industry we're in. I'm excited for what the future holds and I hope you are too!You can read the full blog post here: https://lnkd.in/gwGXJ8v6
